OFFICE INDUCTION

Introduction

The Business Safety Induction is to welcome new team members to the business and prepare them for their new role. It ensures team members are fully informed about their working conditions and are aware of their responsibilities

WHS Rules

  • All team members must follow the WHS policies at all times

  • Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area(s).

  • No demeaning, racist, or sexist comments.

Incidents & Accidents

  • All team members must report immediately any incidents or accidents occurring at work.
  • An incident and accident form must be completed and issued to the direct Manager within 24 hours of the incident/accident.
  • All incidents/accidents will be investigated by the Venue Manager.

Licensing

  • • All team members who are required to drive to external clients/suppliers or any other work-related location and/or place of work must have a current license when driving to/from the work-related location.

COVID Safety

In the following scenarios, team members cannot attend work if they have: 

  • If they have returned from a COVID-19 hotspot

  • Directed by a Government Body (i.e. NSW Health) to self-isolate.

  • Team members who have symptoms of acute respiratory illness are recommended to stay home and not come to work until they are free of fever (37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants). Team members should notify their direct Manager and stay home if they are sick.

Team members can attend work if they are a household close contact but must undertake a daily Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and wear a mask at all times whilst at work for the 7 days since the close contact. If you test positive you should not attend work.

Team members who are in isolation due to one of the above situations should alert their direct Manager. Depending on the type of work, and providing the team member is well, flexible work options from home may be offered but this will be determined on a case-by-case basis. If working from home is not viable the team member will be able to access Personal Carer’s Leave or Annual Leave entitlements.

COVID Safety Practices should occur:

Team members should regularly clean their equipment.

  • Do not shake hands with team members, clients and visitors

  • Wear a mask if not able to socially distance from others.

  • Keep 1.5 metres distance from others.

  • Use hand sanitiser regularly

Workplace Bullying

  • Helen & Joey Estate has zero tolerance for workplace bullying. Under no circumstances will any form of bullying or harassment be tolerated.

  • Workplace bullying or workplace harassment is any ongoing harmful or threatening behaviour by a person or group of people in your workplace that creates a risk to your health and safety.

  • It can happen in any kind of workplace, and the person or group doesn’t need to be a manager or someone in a position of power over you.

  •  Bullying in the workplace may lead to serious personal impact on individuals and is never acceptable.

  • Any form of bullying will be investigated, and team members may face disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment if bullying occurs.

  • All team members have an obligation to report bullying if they witness it occurring in the workplace.

Sexual Harassment

  • The Company has zero tolerance for workplace sexual harassment. Under no circumstances will any form of sexual harassment be tolerated
  • Workplace sexual harassment is against the law in the workplace if it occurs;
– Between individuals who have a workplace relationship.
– During work, or in connection with work.
 
A worker is anyone who carries out work for the company
  • Sexual harassment is defined in Australian law as any unwelcome sexual behaviour that a reasonable person could anticipate may make another person feel offended, humiliated, or intimidated in the situation.

Worker Responsibilities

  • All team members must treat each other professionally.
  • Discrimination will not be tolerated.
  • Workplace bullying, violence or practical jokes is not acceptable.
  • Team members must take reasonable care of their health and safety and ensure that their actions (or in-actions) do not put others at risk.
  • Team members must comply with safety guidelines, policies and procedures of the business.
  • Team members must notify their direct Manager of any safety risks.

Electrical Safety

  • All Electrical equipment must be inspected before use
  • Only licensed electricians may work on energised electrical equipment and under strictly enforced SWMS where utilising suitable PPE and equipment.
  • Team members are not permitted to use floor heaters under the desks without prior authorisation.

Evacuation Procedure

  • Be aware of emergency situation occurring.
  • Check for signs of smoke/fire in your area and prepare for an evacuation.
  • Wait for further instructions from your Manager.
  • Ensure all workers around you are aware of the evacuation and evacuate the building via the nearest safe exit route.
  • Obey any directions/instructions given to you by a Manager.
  • Assist mobility-impaired workers to an appropriate emergency exit.
  • Exit the building in a safe, calm and orderly manner.  Move at a quick walk, do not run.
  • Maintain one clear step between the person in front of you to prevent stumbling.
  • When leaving our of the building proceed immediately to the designated assembly point, located across the road on XXXXX
  • Once at the assembly point, take notice of your fellow workers and point out anyone who you believe to be missing to a Manager. 

Housekeeping

  • All team members are to ensure that their desks are clean and tidy at all times.
  • All team members are expected to wash up and clean up after themselves in the lunch room.
  • Please throw food scraps in the lunch room bins provided.
  • If you notice any cords, tripping hazards or broken furniture notify the your direct Manager ASAP.

Desk Safety

  • Feet should be able to rest flat on the floor. If necessary, a footrest should be used.
  • Keyboards should allow the hand, wrist, and forearm to be in a neutral position, i.e. close to the horizontal.
  • Screens should be at an arm’s length in distance away and placed so the centre of the screen is about shoulder height.
  • As with the keyboard, the mouse should be placed so the hand, wrist, and forearm are in a neutral position i.e. close to the horizontal.
  • Document holders should be approximately the same height and distance from your eyes as the screen, and as close to the monitor as possible to prevent neck twisting.
  • Glare can be reduced by tilting the screen down.

Emergencies and First Aid

  • Team members must report all Incidents and Injuries to their direct Manager and/or Venue Manager and complete an Incident form.
  • Team members must know the location of First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers.
  • Team members should call 000 in the event of an emergency.
  • Team members must know the location of the nearest Medical Facility.

Drugs & Alcohol

  • There is a ZERO tolerance for drug and alcohol use on site.

  • You must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on this site.

  • While at this site you may undergo random drug and alcohol testing.

  • Team members found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will face disciplinary action up to and including termination.

  • Team members must report any suspicious activity to their direct Manager and or Venue Manager.

  • You may not bring any drugs or alcohol onto this site.

Office Ergonomics

Manager Notes

  • The Manager will now give you a tour of the offices.
  • The Supervisor will show you the First Aid and Fire Extinguisher location.
